Update on Liam – all the amazing people who donated to help us legally keep our nephew in a safe house has really made a huge difference in his life, and I got some great perspective on that this week. Some of my co-workers told me about going down to Pioneer Park and handing out some food and warm clothing to the homeless. They came across a sweet and beautiful little girl and gave her some toys from “Frozen”, although I don’t think she really knew what that was. Shouldn’t every little girl know about Frozen? Anyway, my co-workers were very happy that Liam is no longer in that situation or being neglected, but it breaks my heart to think of other children who don’t have a home.
Tomorrow is Liam’s 2nd birthday and things are looking really good as far as our legal fight to keep him in a safe home. I don’t want to say too much at this point but hopefully there will be some really good news soon. When we first got him he was so quiet and docile (due to the parents meth use around him) but now he is healthy and so very happy. Every night I get to Jiu Jitsu wrestle with him, he laughs and laughs. After I give him a bath I roll him up in a blanket and keep him warm and we read stories to him and teach him new words. He loves Buzz Lightyear and Star Wars. I know all of you amazing parents out there get to experience this, but it is new for me and just started one day out of the blue in March when he was dropped off to us.
After we get Liam’s situation figured out, I hope to be able to find other ways to help children who are neglected or in need. I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season with your friends and family!
